CHANGING THE GAME FOR PLAYERS & COMMUNITIES

My full-time job now is to make it harder for MLB to exploit minor leaguers, that’s how I see it, that’s what I intend to do. I don’t think we would cross anything off in terms of what we would consider, as long as it’s something that’s going to try to help minor leaguers overcome this exploitation that they’ve been subjected to for decades.

MTB Gaming

The Digital Big Leagues

Baseball has relied on legacy institutions to maintain cultural relevance which is why we were called up to “The Show” to help players transcend that stereotype through their passion for gaming and the power of their personalities.

Double Plus opened MiLB players to live-streaming audiences to share their passion for gaming. Bringing young, diverse, multilingual, and socially conscious voices into the fold, these players can engage 1:1 with influencers on a personal level while contributing to the causes those influencers care deeply about.

Baseball has been missing that type of relationship with their fans and Double Plus is working to change that narrative.

MTB Collectibles

Raising Both Awareness & Donations

With the revival of retro gaming, trading card games (Pokemon – MTG), and other nostalgic callbacks to the halcyon days of the 90’s, we brought MTB into this world via MTB Collectibles. Through this program, Double Plus has tapped into a massive online community of box-breakers, retro-gaming-collectors, and comic book preservationists to set up donation driving opportunities for MTB.

Being at the forefront of the collectibles movement allowed us to capture a sealed box of Pokemon cards that the charity opened live on Twitch to raise over $25k for the charity.

We’ve revitalized the 2018 Collectibles Roadshow which will be airing on Twitch this summer and feature several Major and Minor League players.

Worn in the 2020 World Series

#MTBKICKS Program

More Than Baseball invited Major League players to design their own custom cleats that they would wear in game. Custom gear has never been allowed in the majors, but through the charity, MTB was able to coerce the league into adopting the program.

Game worn cleats are immediately taken off after the game and signed by the player wearing them. These cleats are then auctioned off over at MTB.auctions with all proceeds going to More Than Baseball. After the success of the program, it was expanded to include a second pair of non-game-worn custom cleats that are signed and made available for other MTB donation driving events.

For the 2020 World Series, MTB invited Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Tony Gonsolin to design his own ‘cat-themed’ cleats. “I got to wear these custom cleats in the biggest game I have ever pitched in,” Gonsolin said. “It was an awesome experience to spread my love for cats around.
